The start of something new

I've talked about starting a blog for about four years now, and due to my supposedly busy life style I never actually started one. The funny thing is that whenever I complained to my mom about having a busy life she would just look at me with a momma's, 'I know something you don't know,' smirk and say something like, "Ohh, just you wait, Sid."
Here I am four years later and my mom was right. Life has gotten busier, but also much better! I have married a man that has changed my life and made me a better person, graduated with my bachelors from my dream school, moved to the unknown but wonderful state of Texas, and am about to have a bouncing, beautiful baby boy. I know that I can't catch up everything that has happened in the past four years in this one post, so I've decided that I'm going to post about the wedding, vacations, and our life, etc randomly. And shout out to my wonderful cousin/friend, Ellee Peterson (elleepete.blogspot.com), for helping design my cute header for this blog. She's amazing and would love to help with yours if you start one and are techno-tard like me.

Today I wanted to post about the thing that's been on Dan and I's mind every second of every day these past 9 months----the soon-to-be-baby!

When Dan and I got married, we decided that we wanted to wait to bring a child into this world once we, (Dan, the Lord, and I) felt right about it. About 1.5 years later we wanted to start trying. At the time we were living in a wonderful area of Provo that was nicknamed, "The Rabbit Hole." Can you guess why? Well, because everyone and their dogs were having children! Obviously, it made us very baby hungry. We wanted a baby and wanted it then. We had a schedule we wanted to follow.
I've always heard that if you want to make God laugh, then make plan. God certainly had a plan for us that was different than ours, because it took about a year to get pregnant. It was a very discouraging and humbling time while we were trying, but we knew that God had a plan for us and he knew when we should start our family.

On April 10th, 2014 I felt prompted to take a pregnancy test. It was late at night and Dan was in the living room studying. I took the test and read the result- negative. I placed the test on the counter and called Dan in to tell him the news. It was always a tear-jerking time reading that little minus sign on the test. Dan and I held each other for a minutes to make sure everything was okay. As we were about to leave, Dan told me to wait. He picked up the test and asked, "Is this starting to look like a plus sign to you?" Lo, and behold, a tiny light pink line was appearing! We didn't know what was going on and as any frantic couple would do, ran to the dollar store and grabbed a couple more tests. Each test I took came back with a little pink plus!

We were ecstatic, happy, surprised, and even scared for the future!

A couple weeks later we were at the OB-GYN office to confirm the news. Turns out everything was great. By the time we had found out, we were already about 6-7 weeks pregnant! (It now makes sense why I was just tired, starving, and gaining weight at the same time).

Here was the announcement we used to tell the world! November 21, 2014. (It makes me cry just looking at the little, tiny thing with stubs that will be ours forever)

Dan and I are not very patient people, so we wanted to find out if we were having a boy or a girl as early as we could! (God bless those who can wait until the birth). At 14 weeks, we were about to find out the gender. A BOY! I am very grateful for the opportunity that I have to raise a boy in this world, and to have a wonderful husband that can be the best father and teach him to be a gentleman. The picture below was during the ultrasound that we found out the gender. We love this position that he is in. Dan likes to say that he has the sacrament nap position down already (with the head on the pew).

Announcement of the gender. Our video that we made of this is on Facebook. We poked holes in the girl balloon so it wouldn't blow up.

I'll include a few milestones that I feel are worth mentioning (although I could go on forever about every little detail).

Weeks 1-20: I was tired all the time, but managed to continue with full time school and work. I was craving anything and everything carbs (pasta, muffins, etc), burgers,  ice-cream, Chinese chicken salad, cooked carrots (soooo yummy) and fresh fruit (no citrus because it made me sick). Pretty healthy options there right?... Not! Dan just said it was the boy in me that was making me crave all that. I whole-heatedly believe in that!

Week 15: My sweet Dan decided that he would get me something small every week passed as a way to chart the progress. He will write a note with an item and give it to me at the start of the new week. Ex. a baby book/toy with a note attached. I've now gotten 25 sweet notes and items from my husband and I am so thankful for him!

Week 20- Pictured below.  I was just starting to feel little flurries inside my stomach! They really were like butterflies!

Week 22:  This was the week I remember laying down and seeing my stomach actually move for the first time! I was so excited to physically see what was happening inside of me.

Week 28: I felt him hiccup for the first time! They made my stomach jolt every few seconds and felt super funny inside but I loved every moment of it. Since then, he hiccups almost everyday. I know he is getting strong lungs because these hiccups rock my whole body!

Week 30:  Pictured below. We were now moved to Texas by this time, and it was now obvious that I was pregnant. Before this time, nobody would ask if I was pregnant (I'm assuming because of all the many horror stories out there). Around now is when people would come and put their hands on my stomach and ask when I was due! Some people hate their personal space being touched, but I just loved showing off my new curves.

Week 33:  Pictured below. At this point I was starting to feel uncomfortable in doing everyday activities. Waking up 5 times to use the restroom at night is never fun, especially when you have to roll out of bed (literally). I loved seeing baby boy move in my stomach all the time. I've tried many times to get a video of his movements but he is camera shy. Every single time he stops moving when I push record!

Week 35:  Pictured below. As you can tell from the picture, my stomach is as large as a medium sized pumpkin! I am amazed how some ladies can hide their bellies and still look tiny right before they give birth! I've come to the conclusion that I show much more because I am very short.

Week 37:  My doctor told me that if I have the baby right on the due date, he would probably weigh about 8.5-9.0 massive pounds! He is going to be such a big boy! I must've looked concerned in the doctors appointment because he immediately told me not to worry, and that he has delivered a 10 lb. baby to someone shorter than me! I never thought I'd say this, but thank goodness for my good birthing hips I've always had!

Week 39:  I am writing this post in the middle of week 39! Dan and I have the baby room almost all finished, have our bags packed for the hospital, have the car seat installed, and are currently waiting for the little guy to come! My doctor (he is amazing) is not wanting to induce me unless there is an emergency, so he mentioned that I could be pretty late. They will continue to monitor after my due date comes to make sure everything is looking alright. For now, we are waiting.

This was a massive post, but it felt great to write about the new addition that we will be adding to the family! We are anxious and excited everyday for this new adventure to begin; and if life was busy before, I know it will be much busier in the next week. We are incredibly thankful for all the support we've gotten from everyone (from baby showers, to texts and calls, etc). We also feel extremely grateful for this opportunity to raise a righteous boy in this generation. Until next time....:)
